It is official, the Chicago Bears have a new general manager. The team has gone from Ryan Pace to now Ryan Poles. If you are concerned with the fact that these two have nearly the same name, don’t feel bad. I too have been frustrated with how often I slip up and say Pace instead of Poles or even write the wrong name. The good news is that the similarities between the two pretty much stop at the name. I’m not going to go into that again, you can read all about it here.
For Ryan Poles, the work doesn’t start now. Nope, he better have been putting in the time way before now with the thought that he would one day take over his own team. That day is today and he has some very important decisions to make. Right now, his biggest decision will be hiring the right head coach. As of now, the only three names that keep coming up are Jim Caldwell, who Ryan Poles interviewed today, Dan Quinn and Matt Eberflus.
Once Ryan Poles locks down the Chicago Bears head coach, he must get to work
If you read my head coaching rankings, you’d know that I have the three coaches ranked with Jim Caldwell ahead of Matt Eberflus who is ahead of Dan Quinn. The problem is, none of them are good enough in my opinion. This team deserves the best and none of these guys stand out enough for me. In my opinion, at best these three would be a double. I want this team to hit a home run. Maybe Poles will surprise us and expand the list. At the very least, maybe the Bears land a top offensive coordinator somehow.
The thing is, this team has some personnel decisions to make and Ryan Poles will need to get on them rather quickly.
