Names to keep an eye on as the next Chicago Bears offensive coordinator
Scott Milanovich is another name to keep an eye on for the Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears do not have any problems diving into the Canadian Football League, right? We saw them bring in Marc Trestman as a head coach. Is it possible that they bring in another coach who has plenty of coaching experience in the Canadian football league?
The current quarterbacks coach of the Indianapolis Colts is Scott Milanovich. Milanovich had 12 years of experience in the CFL ranging as a quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. He found his first NFL coaching action in 2017 when he was hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the quarterbacks coach on Doug Marrone’s staff.
The Jaguars went 10-6 on the season and Milanovich was working with now Denver Broncos head coach, Nathaniel Hackett. Hackett was the offensive coordinator in Green Bay before taking on the Broncos job and was the offensive coordinator for the Jaguars in 2017 too. Hackett and Milanovich helped Blake Bortles throw for 3,687 yards, 21 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Bortles threw for more than 300 yards in four games in 2018. Milanovich got a taste for play-calling this year too as he was the interim offensive coordinator over the last five weeks of the season. The Jaguars went 2-3 over that span. Prior to the last five games, the team had only won three other games. One thing to note though, during that time, the offense averaged less than 15 points per game. Milanovich has a connection to Matt Eberflus, but let’s hope he’s not truly on the radar.
