4. The Chicago Bears will continue not blitzing

Matt Eberflus has another consistent trend of letting his four-man rush get home. That does not mean that he does not run stunts, or mix and match the coverages and who drops. However, more than most teams, the Colts were not blitzing under Eberflus.

Last season the team blitzed on 20% of their snaps, which was 5th least in the NFL. In 2020, it was at 17%, which is second to last, and 23% is fifth to last as well in 2019.

This is not going to be a huge difference. In 2019 the Bears blitzed 23%, and in 2020 they blitzed 22%. Once again in 2021, they blitzed 23% of the time. It is hard to imagine, but the Colts did blitz slightly less than Chicago, who did not blitz very much at all.

This should make sense when you look at the Bears’ personnel, and it should be an easy fit for the players to fit into his scheme. Expect a defense that. does not blitz.
