Chicago Bears: Out with the old and in with the new (part 1)

The Chicago Bears had to change everything with Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy. What did they do? Hire another Ryan and Matt. The questions upcoming will be, why didn’t the Chicago Bears look into hiring Jim Harbaugh or Josh Mcdaniels. The answer will never matter. Bill Polian was asked to come in and find the new Chicago Bears face of the franchise — insert Ryan Poles.

The Chicago Bears and Ryan Poles wanted to find the best leader of men for their next head coach — insert Matt Eberflus. I can’t lie, I wanted an offensive guy just like most of the fan base, but I did cover how the Chicago Bears need a head coach, end of discussion. The head coach on any team should never be confused with the play-caller. Matt Nagy couldn’t seem to understand that concept. There are a few Chicago Bears fans that understand that thought.

I couldn’t tell you how many times I have seen, bring back Lovie Smith. Well, guess what? You got what you asked for. Matt Eberflus was created on the Lovie Smith foundation of football. Tracking back, Eberflus worked under Frank Reich, was taught by Rod Marinelli (who worked under Lovie Smith and with him in Tampa Bay), all branching back to — Tony Dungy.

The Chicago Bears hired another, hopefully, better version of Ryan and Matt

I don’t intend to press the coincidence of Bill Polian, Tony Dungy, and the Chicago Bears. However, all coaches under the Tony Dungy tree have a combined coaching win percentage of over 52%. Alright, back on track. Matt Eberflus has been rumored to hire a first-time offensive and defensive coordinator. We all know how important it is to make sure Justin Fields becomes a star in the NFL.

The hire of Green Bay Packers QB coach/passing game coordinator Luke Getsy is vastly underrated. First, we need to understand that Matt Nagy’s offense was awful. There is nowhere to go but up. Secondly, Getsy has worked around college and the NFL under multiple schemes.

Luke Getsy, if you haven’t heard yet, was also under Joe Moorhead at Mississippi State during the 2018 season. Nick Fitzgerald was the athletic quarterback for the Bulldogs at the time, so Getsy understands working with athletic profiled quarterbacks. Matt Eberflus has a specific thing he is looking for in his offensive coordinator as another finalist for the OC job, Sanjay Lal, was a receivers coach. Working with receivers is Luke Getsy and Lal’s main thing in common.
