Chicago Bears: Takeaways from yesterday’s introductory press conference
Monday was a day at Halas Hall that the Chicago Bears and their fans have experienced too many times: the introduction of a new regime. While the events of bringing in new voices can be something to look forward to, it brings to light the inconsistencies of the organization for the past few decades.
Since the Bears fired Lovie Smith in 2012, the team is now on their fourth hire in 10 years. A recipe for success? Not at all. However, the Chicago Bears have found their football guys for the upcoming season and they will be given a chance to build a roster and compete for a title.
Let’s dive into what I thought were the biggest takeaways from new head coach Matt Everflus and new general manager Ryan Poles meeting the media for the first time Monday in Lake Forest.
It wouldn’t be a press conference without Geroge McCaskey giving his two cents
Through the great investigative work of The Athletic’s Jon Greenberg, Chicago Bears Chairmen George McCaskey did, in fact, pick up Ryan Poles from O’Hare Airport in his own vehicle and did not have a driver. The video of them walking by luggage claim made it around Twitter and it led to quite the discussion. However, some may say it was a nice touch by McCaskey to pick him up and drive him to Lake Forest. It is the man who you are going to report to so the relationship may as well start on the car ride on I-94.
