Chicago Bears fans should feel hopeful about this new regime

When it comes to the upcoming 2022 season, Chicago Bears fans should feel hopeful. Justin Fields is entering year two of his career. After being second fiddle to Andy Dalton throughout training camp, Justin FIelds showed growth and promise as the year went on. Heading into year two, it’s rational to have hope that his development will continue.

Although Luke Getsy has yet to call plays throughout his coaching career, fans should still be hopeful about the idea that a new offensive scheme will be put into place. The words that came out of Matt Eberflus’ mouth at his introductory press conference have to feel good too.

Those words were that Eberflus doesn’t want to fall into a specific scheme, but rather, wants to build around his players’ strengths. This isn’t what we heard and saw from Matt Nagy with the offense. I think it’s clear that the new regime wants to do what we have been screaming for the last four years. They want to build the offense around Justin Fields. Now the question will be, can this new regime get it done or fall trap into what we have seen for quite some time here in Chicago.

Another positive that I have heard when it comes to this new regime is how dedicated Ryan Poles seems to be to fix the Chicago Bears offensive line. He has already made mention of the offensive line and specific players on a few occasions. He has even talked about how he has already started watching tape on the current players. Kevin Fishbain even interviewed one of Poles’ former general managers and he had this to say:

I think it is clear that Poles is going to shift the focus from the defensive side of the ball and work on the offensive side of the ball. The question will then be, how much can the defense sacrifice for this team to remain relevant, turn things around quickly and also sustain any success they see. That is all we are wanting and remain hopeful for — that this team finally finds sustained success.

Unfortunately, with that hope that we are feeling, it is okay to also feel this way about the new regime.
