Ranking the top-five free agents the Chicago Bears must target in 2022
By Ryan Olson
The Chicago Bears are at a crossroads going into this offseason with tons of decisions to be made. Including who they should target in this coming offseason, so I took the glory of ranking the top five free-agent targets for the Chicago Bears.
In this article, these players will be graded upon how much the Bears need to address this offseason, the player’s age, and how good the player is.
Spotrac will be used as a rough estimate for the potential contracts being given out in the offseason.
5. Chicago Bears Free Agent Target: Odell Beckham, Jr., WR – Rams
Projected Contract: 2 years/12 million
Odell Beckham has had his highs and lows in the league as he was once on pace to be one of the best receivers of all time from a stats perspective. Beckham went through a rough patch in Cleveland where he would eventually get released as he and QB Baker Mayfield never seemed to be on the same page.
However, ever since joining Los Angeles, Beckham has reasserted himself as one of the league’s best receivers, especially in the playoffs. Beckham heads into Super Bowl weekend with 236 yards and 20 catches in the playoffs with a 3-0 record.
I would be shocked to see Beckham only get 12 million for two years if he were to test the market, and I would be happy with a three-year, 45 million dollar deal to make him wide receiver one in Chicago for the time being.
However, we could see Beckham not test the open market as he does seem to have found the right home for him in LA, between the great team success, Sean McVay, and the city of LA, I think it would take a great opportunity for Beckham to leave his home in LA. Especially when you take into account how rough his tenure in Cleveland was.
No, Odell Beckham Jr. is not a lockerroom cancer, no, Odell Beckham Jr. is not washed, yes, Odell Beckham is a legit wide receiver one in this league.
