These are the eight blue-chippers currently on the Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears Blue-Chip Player: Khalil Mack, EDGE
The only player who I would say give Roquan Smith a run for his money as the most talented player on the roster is Khalil Mack. Mack is a future Hall of Famer — most likely a first-ballot one at that. Unfortunately, Mack only played in seven games this season. He suffered a foot injury that required surgery and shut him down for the year.
When the Chicago Bears traded for Mack in 2018, it was a surreal feeling. Not many believed it would even be possible. That first season was unbelievable for Mack and the Bears. He finished with 12.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He was second in voting for Defensive Player of the Year.
Things were not the same for Mack following that year though — at least not on the stat sheet. Mack never reached double-digit sacks again. He had 8.5 in 2019 and 9.0 last year. Mack was on pace for 14.5 sacks this year had it not been for the foot injury. Mack will be 31 years old in 2022 and is on the downward side of his career. That said, he’s still one of the best EDGE rushers in the league and easily a blue-chipper.
