Chicago Bears Blue-Chip Player: Cairo Santos, K

It is not a good sign for a team in need of more talent when the kicker is considered a blue-chip player. The Chicago Bears need two to four more blue-chip players according to Bill Polian, and I would prefer they find three to five so we can exclude Cairo Santos from the list going forward.

The thing is, it would have been nice if the 2018 Chicago Bears had a blue-chip kicker. Instead of losing to the Eagles in the Wild Card round, the team would have advanced and maybe, just maybe would have worked their way to the Super Bowl.

Since Cairo Santos took over for Eddy Pineiro, it has felt nice not worrying about the kicking position. To be fair to Pineiro, who went 100% for the Jets over the final five weeks of the season, he was also a good kicker for the Bears when healthy. Santos has been the guy for two years now. Last year he made 30 of 32 field goals for a 93.8% success rate. That dropped slightly to 86.7% this season. Throughout his career, he’s averaged 83.7% and is a blue-chip player.
