The Chicago Bears were one of the first teams in need of a new general manager and head coach to fill both vacancies. If you are familiar with my work, you would know that I think the Bears made the right decision in hiring Ryan Poles — even if his name is that close to being Ryan Pace. As far as the head coach, I am also on record of stating that I believe the Chicago Bears should have gone with an offensive-minded coach, but instead, they hired Matt Eberflus.

How long can we continue to go on and on about the Ryan and Matt 2.0 show? I think the joke has run its course. These two do not seem to be anything like the previous regime even if the hiring process may have had some resemblances.

Ryan Poles was a former offensive lineman. Ryan Pace on the other hand was a defensive end. Pace seemed to excel on finding guys on defense, whereas Ryan Poles has been talking about offensive linemen since he was hired. It should also be noted that he played a big part in retooling the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line last season. Could he do the same here in Chicago?

I won’t begin to try and tell you I know what is going on inside Ryan Poles’ mind. However, he has made enough comments to know that he wants offensive linemen who are strong and willing to push guys around. He had no problem with what Teven Jenkins did to defend Justin Fields versus the Vikings in Week 15. It seems he wants guys with a little “nasty” in them and honestly, it is something this offensive line has been missing since Kyle Long in his prime.

Alright, I am getting ahead of myself here. I wanted to look at what the Chicago Bears did right and wrong while running through the general manager and head coaching search. Here are my thoughts.
