If you are not reading Matt Lombardo’s weekly column at FanSided, you are missing out on plenty of great nuggets around the NFL. Sometimes included in the information that Lombardo is able to dig up throughout the league is insider thoughts on our beloved Chicago Bears and more specifically about Justin Fields.

This week’s article is obviously focused on the two Super Bowl teams — the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams. However, Lombardo also talks about how there could be a massive shift in talent at the quarterback position if a few key trades take place this offseason.

Could Justin Fields help lead the Chicago Bears to greatness in the NFC?

Should Aaron Rodgers force a trade out of Green Bay, one potential landing spot would be the Denver Broncos who recently hired Nathaniel Hackett as their head coach. Did Hackett get the job based solely on his credentials or was it also a ploy to try and pull Aaron Rodgers to Denver?

Rodgers is not the only quarterback in the NFC who is rumored to be on the trade block. Last season the Chicago Bears were linked in a potential trade with the Seattle Seahawks for Russell Wilson. Well, Russell Wilson is in the rumor mill as a trade candidate again this offseason. Could Wilson be dealt to the AFC too?

I’m not sure what team makes sense, but maybe a swap of Russell Wilson for Baker Mayfield and draft picks is possible? Maybe the Colts look to move Carson Wentz in a move for Wilson or Davis Mills could be traded from the Texans? Honestly, it seems more realistic that Wilson is dealt within the NFC if he is dealt, but you never know.

Finally, there are already some rumors that the Pittsburgh Steelers may be interested in dealing for Jimmy Garoppolo. If Garoppolo moves to Pittsburgh, that removes another quarterback from the NFC who was just fighting for a Super Bowl spot. Personally, I don’t believe Garoppolo is remotely close to the talent level as Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson, but seeing him leave the NFC would still be a significant change.

While interviewing an NFC quarterbacks coach about this possible shift in dynamic at the quarterback position, he told Matt Lombardo that he believes Dak Prescott rises to the top of the class along with Matthew Stafford. That said, he also mentioned Justin Fields in the same conversation. His exact quote was:

"“Justin Fields and the Bears are going to win a lot of games next year,” the coach explains. “They’re going to split at worst with the Lions, if Aaron leaves Green Bay, the Bears are going to at least split with the Packers and they have a good chance to sweep the Lions.”"

I am glad to hear that a coach within the NFL sees what I saw last year. His growth and development throughout the year showed as he averaged over 300 total yards per game in the back half of the year. In a better system and a full year under his belt, I expect Justin Fields to hold onto the ball better and be even more efficient. I truly believe that Fields has the talent and potential to be a dominant superstar in this league for years to come.
