The Chicago Bears should target Laken Tomlinson in free agency
If the Bears don’t opt for one of the previous two guys, Laken Tomlinson might actually end up being their best bet regardless. At 29 years old, Tomlinson is in the middle of his prime and is coming off his best season as a pro, earning a Pro Bowl nod.
Last year, Tomlinson played all 1,094 offensive snaps for the San Francisco 49ers and only allowed two sacks. To add to the impressive season, Tomlinson was hit with just five penalties all year long.
The best thing the Bears can get out of Tomlinson, even over his finesse in both pass and run blocking, is the fact that he’s been available. Tomlinson has played in every single game over his past four seasons.
San Francisco has had one of the best offensive lines in football in recent seasons, and Tomlinson’s experience in a Shanahan offense would come as a huge asset to the Bears’ line. With Luke Getsy running a similar offense to Shanahan’s, the Bears would be lucky to sign a guy like Tomlinson.
