Free Agent Matt Eberflus Could Bring to the Chicago Bears: Tyquan Lewis, DT

A player who was drafted while Matt Eberflus was in Chicago is Tyquan Lewis. Lewis is a defensive tackle who played nose tackle for the Colts. During his four years in Indianapolis, Lewis has 8.5 sacks. Lewis might not be the best option to start at nose tackle, but he’d make a very solid backup at worst.

The chances of Eddie Goldman being cut at some point this offseason seem highly likely. He can save the team over $6 million dollars if he is cut post-June 1st. Goldman had a rough year in 2021 after sitting out in 2020 due to COVID-19. Is it possible that he was just out of shape this year or has he checked out completely? I’m leaning toward the latter.

Needless to say, Matt Eberflus doesn’t put up with laziness and loafers. Will Eberflus find Goldman to look lazy while reviewing his 2021 game tape and consider Tyquan Lewis a better replacement even if less talented? I guess we will have to wait and see.
