The Chicago Bears could pursue cornerback Tre Flowers

One of this offseason’s certainties in Chicago is the fact that their cornerback room will look dramatically different for the 2022 season. Last year, this was one of the major pain points for the Bears as they dealt with both Kindle Vildor and Artie Burns starting at different points of the season.

Other than Jaylon Johnson and maybe Thomas Graham Jr., the Bears don’t have much to be excited about in terms of a future at the position. One player they could choose to sign in free agency that would come in and compete there is Tre Flowers.

In his limited action this year, Flowers has proven to be a very physical and active cornerback. The effort is certainly there, as he’s become a mainstay on special teams and has played about half the special teams snaps during his time with the Bengals this year.

Flowers is known as the Bengals’ “tight end corner,” being a guy who can physically match up with tight ends and bring the physicality there. For the first two years of his career, Flowers was a starter for the Seattle Seahawks and brings plenty of experience. He may be able to compete in Chicago for a slot-type role, or simply be brought in during certain sub-packages.
