The Chicago Bears could trade Nick Foles to Washington

This year’s quarterback class is not considered to be as strong as recent years, therefore teams like the Washington Commanders may opt to wait until next year to draft their franchise quarterback. With Taylor Heinicke still under contract for 2022, Washington at least has a somewhat starting-caliber quarterback on the roster.

Ryan Fitzpatrick may call it quits after this past season ended with an injury, and that would leave Washington with just Heinicke as their top option. If the Bears wanted to float Nick Foles out there, maybe they could at least net a later pick from the Commanders.

Why is this trade considered aggressive? Simple. The Bears have a very capable backup quarterback in place with Foles and now will have to go out and find a replacement. Sure, they save a little cash which is nice. But, the team now has zero backup quarterbacks on the roster, and that’s a bit risky considering Foles’ leadership and likability in the locker room.

The positive, here, is that the Bears get Foles off the books and are able to add additional draft capital for this season.
