10 free agents connected to new Chicago Bears leadership

The Chicago Bears could pursue free agent cornerback Xavier Rhodes
You had to believe there would be one more defensive back on this list. The Bears’ cornerback room might have been the worst in the entire NFL last year, and its only saving grace was that Jaylon Johnson was able to hold water amidst the garbage around him.
One of the more interesting free agent cornerbacks available is going to be Xavier Rhodes, who is a former All Pro and a three-time Pro Bowl selection. The 31-year-old began his career as one of the best young corners in football. But, over the last couple of seasons in Minnesota, his career went downhill in a hurry.
Rhodes was statistically one of the worst cornerbacks in football over his last two years with the Vikings, but the Colts took a chance on him anyways, and it actually paid off.
Under Eberflus and Williams, Rhodes saw somewhat of a career resurgence. Over the 2020 season, Rhodes enjoyed a very admirable 76.3 grade from Pro Football Focus, while last year he trended downward again before missing the final month of the season with a hamstring injury.
This might be his last decent contract in the NFL if he’s not signed to a one-year, prove-it type of deal. Rhodes would, at the very least, be an improvement over guys like Kindle Vildor and Artie Burns. But, Eberflus and Williams would have to ensure he’s put in the right positions to succeed once again.
