The Chicago Bears could trade Robert Quinn to the Houston Texans

Just days ago, the Houston Texans hired former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith for the same position. They are looking for a culture change to finally move the franchise in a positive direction after the last year of craziness involving Deshaun Watson.

It would be pretty ironic for Lovie and the Texans to complete a big trade with the coach’s former team, but it would be a move that immediately makes this Texans defense better. Houston is in need of some leaders on that roster, and some playmakers, too. Quinn would give the Texans exactly that.

Last year, the Texans had the fifth-worst mark in the NFL with 32.0 team sacks. They also have a handful of key free agents, including all three starting linebackers from a season ago: Christian Kirksey, Neville Hewitt and Kamu Grugier-Hill. The Texans also have two starting defensive linemen entering free agency in Jacob Martin and Maliek Collins.

One would assume the Texans are going to shake things up on defense and allow some of their own guys to find a new team.

The Bears get a high third-rounder (pick 80) and a 2023 seventh-rounder in this deal, while the Texans get Quinn and a fifth-round selection in next year’s draft.
