The Chicago Bears are getting ready for free agency to start. This will be the first free agency period for General Manager Ryan Poles, which means this team may see some roster turnover, as Poles start to ship out Ryan Pace players.

The following eight players are not the stars of Allen Robinson, who we touched on in another post. They are rather the lesser-known players who make up the roster but will be gone all of the same.

8. Tashaun Gipson

Ryan Pace had the right idea, but it caught up to him in the end. With a high-paid safety such as Eddie Jackson, you have to go into the weeds to find a good cheap companion. HaHa Clinton-Dix was fine for one season, and Tashaun Gipson was good for another. Pace made the mistake by re-signing Gipson and giving him more money than the previous year.

The issue with Gipson is that Pace found him so cheap because his age and injury status were catching up to him. Pace got a strong season from him but was splaying with fire hoping for an older Gipson to give him to straight strong seasons.

Now, Gipson is over the age of 31 and has more injuries to his name, Beyond that, his on-field play started to plummet. The days of Gipson starting are over, and the Bears don’t need an old starter as depth. Gipson may be waiting until after the draft to sign as he did in 2020.
