The Chicago Bears are going to start a new era with Ryan Poles overseeing his first free agency as the team’s General Manager. While he has said that he is not going to go crazy with spending, there are needs that he will have to address in free agency. One of those is wide receiver.

Whether it is cheaper depth options or a big fish, the Chicago Bears are going to add a wideout in free agency. The following five are players that would not be nearly as appealing as some of the other names out there when you consider price and situation.

5. Odell Beckham

Odell Beckham is a talented wide receiver. We saw this season that you can win a Super Bowl with someone like him in the locker room. We also know that Odell Beckham has a good relationship with the Chicago Bears current wide receivers coach. However, while Beckham would be a nice signing on paper, it is tough to love the fit.

The biggest issue is going to be his injury. Beckham confirmed that he tore his ACL during the Super Bowl. He could get back to play next season, but considering the timing, that is a stretch. So, the team signing is really investing one year to get the most out of the second year. That is already too risky.

Justin Fields is on a rookie contract and the clock is ticking for them to find out how good he Is. That means getting wide receivers who can immediately help. They cannot wait on Beckham because they have to know about Fields right now. There are too many moving logistics to make him a great signing.
