3. Rodger Saffold

Rodger Saffold is another big question on the Tennessee Titans offensive line. On one hand, it was when the Titans signed Saffold that they really saw Derrick Henry explode into the runner we remember him as. In a couple of years before the team signed Saffold Henry had a few big runs but was a hit or miss guy.

Saffold is clearly better in the run game than the passing game and he is a massive human who can crush people moving downhill. The question with him is that he is 33 years old and last year you started to see some slowing down in his foot speed. At that size, he is not going to get that back.

The Titans could save $10.4M if they move on from Rodger Saffold. That is about what James Daniels will be expecting on the open market. So, once again, the question becomes do you want the 33-year old established veteran or the young player who has not proven much yet.

In the case of Saffold, he would. be signing a one or two-year deal compared to four or five from Daniels as well. Another question specifically for Chicago is that Saffold has typically played left guard. Cody Whitehair has moved around but has typically been best at left guard.

Still, cutting Whitehair could save about $8M in cap space, so the question could become replacing Whitehair with Saffold. Saffold is older than Whitehair, but the age gap becomes smaller.
