2. Chicago Bears are Alan Williams second stint as defensive coordinator
Alan Williams spent nine years as a defensive backs coach under Tony Dungy before Leslie Frazier brought him with him to Minnesota. That is where Alan Williams saw his first shot at defensive coordinator.
The numbers do not look good, as Williams got two years coordinating the Vikings before the team hired Mike Zimmer. To be fair to Williams, the team had Christian Ponder at quarterback, and their secondary was Josh Robinson, Chris Cook, Jamarca Sanford, and Andrew Sendejo, so he did not crash an elite unit into the ground. Still, two years was the only time he was given coordinating the defense.
Williams has been in the NFL for 20 years now, and just two have been in the role of defensive coordinator. It was also nearly 10 years ago when he was last in that role. We will get to see firsthand what he learned from his first stint and what all of the experience has led to now that he is the Chicago Bears defensive coordinator.
