The Chicago Bears should re-sign Jakeem Grant

The previous regime sent a future sixth-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for Jakeem Grant. That 2023 draft pick is now something that the new regime will need to try and either recoup or deal with the fact that they yet again have less than seven draft picks.

Grant made the decision of trading for him look good though as he earned a Pro Bowl nod and Second-Team All-Pro honors as a returner this past season. We do not know what to expect of Tarik Cohen as he missed the entire 2021 season as he recovered from his knee injury that took place in Week 3 of the 2020 season. Cohen should have been able to return, but never fully recovered. Hearing him speak this offseason, I’d be surprised if he isn’t cut by the new regime.

Depending on what the team decides to do with Tarik Cohen, Jakeem Grant could become a priority. He showed his versatility by taking on an expanded role within the offense last year. He caught nine of 15 targets and scored two touchdowns. He also added five rushes for 33 yards. Grant only played in 11 games for the Bears, but he made his impact known.

He saw 18 punt returns, averaged nearly 14 yards per return, and also added a punt return touchdown. On kickoffs, he saw 21 attempts and averaged over 23 yards per return. Grant is one of these six players I’d fight for if I were in the room with Ryan Poles.
