The Chicago Bears should re-sign Patrick Scales

Wait, what!? How do you have Patrick Scales on this list and not include the likes of Allen Robinson or Akiem Hicks? For one, I am done with Allen Robinson here in Chicago. The Chicago Bears need to move on from Robinson as much as Robinson needs to move on from the Bears. Based on the way he played last season, both sides need to cut ties and go their separate ways.

I’d love to see Akiem Hicks back on the defensive side of the ball, but he is not worth bringing back on some large free agent contract that I expect him to see from another team. He is 32 years old and has missed 20 games over the last three years. I know he played in 15 just a year ago, but also only finished with 3.5 sacks on the year that season. Why was his production down that year? Well, dealing with nagging injuries of course.

When it comes to Patrick Scales, the team should be bringing him back because he is consistent. He rarely ever has bad snaps, keeping him with Cairo Santos is important and if the team brings in a new punter for pending free agent Pat O’Donnell, then he should bring the type of consistency that punters want from their long snapper. The Chicago Bears have been lucky in the long snapper department and I’d be all for keeping Scales on another, relatively inexpensive contract.
