The Chicago Bears are going to be looking at current free agents to sign but also have to have their eyes on the possibility that there will be cut candidates from other teams as well. One team that the Bears will want to keep an eye on is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Who are some players from that team that could eventually become free agents?

3. Stephon Tuitt

The Chicago Bears will have to look long and hard into Stephon Tuitt, as will the Pittsburgh Steelers. At his peak, you could compare Stephon Tuitt to a prime Akiem Hicks. He is a massive body a game wrecker.

However, in 2021 he had a personal issue, the sudden passing of his brother led to him taking some time off from the game. As he returned to Pittsburgh, an injury set him back, and he missed the entire 2021.

The Steelers have said themselves that they feel that the loss of his brother is impacting his commitment to football. This could lead to them letting Tuitt go and saving $9M.

Perhaps Tuitt does not have his head in it, but perhaps a change of scenery could do him well. As noted, his play is similar to Hicks’ and is much younger. If the Bears offer a similar contract that they would have paid Hicks, and can end up with a motivated Tuitt, that is an upgrade. Still, the question is more mental than physical with Tuitt at this point.
