Chicago Bears Possible Target No. 2: Roger McCreary, CB, – Auburn

Another area the Bears could target is cornerback. 2021 showed that Kindle Vildor wasn’t the answer at CB2, and as promising as Thomas Graham Jr. was at the end of the season, he still has some questions to answer as well. This class also has very solid cornerback depth and could cause a corner of McCreary’s caliber to fall to Chicago.

McCreary is a player who got playing time as a true freshman at Auburn and continued to get better throughout the course of his collegiate career. McCreary was one of the top-rated corners in the country last year and led the FBS in forced incompletions according to PFF.

One of the biggest strengths in McCreary’s game is physicality. Despite his modest size, he is very disruptive in press coverage and at the point of the catch. McCreary’s versatility is also a major positive to his game. He could play on the outside or slot and has experience playing safety. This could come in handy for a team that has a lot of holes in the secondary.

McCreary is another example of a prospect with day one skills but day two physical traits. Still, he was able to hold his own in the toughest conference in college football, so there is no reason to think he couldn’t be a quality player at the next level.
