Chicago Bears Possible Target No. 4: Kyler Gordon, CB – Washington

Trent McDuffie is likely to be long gone by the time the Bears are on the clock, but there is another Washington corner who could still be available. Gordon may be seen as the lesser of the Huskies’ star corners, but he is a very talented prospect in his own right.

The appeal of a prospect like Gordon is pretty simple; athleticism and ball skills. Don’t let the projected 40-yard dash time fool you; Gordon is a super explosive player. He has outstanding closing speed and agility, which makes him very good in man coverage. Gordon is also a willing defender in the run game and is a good open-field tackler.

What separates a prospect like McDuffie from his college counterpart is instincts. There were times when Gordon was too late reacting to breaks on receivers, and there were times when he was too early and would bite on a double move. This won’t be something Gordon can get away with at the next level, and he will need to have a more disciplined approach.

Gordon is another prospect I would be thrilled with if the Bears could get in round three. He has the traits to project to a high ceiling, but he also has the tools for a higher floor than some give him credit for.
