The Chicago Bears could do without running back Tarik Cohen
Finally, one of the more talked about veterans who could become a cap casualty is Tarik Cohen.
If the Bears cut Cohen after June 1, they would save $4 million, bringing the grand total savings to over $16 million if the team cut him, Goldman, Trevathan and Attaochu.
Why can the Bears do without Cohen? It’s pretty simple because they have been without him for nearly two full seasons. Has the offense sputtered? Absolutely. But, is it because they’ve been without Cohen? Of course not.
The Bears’ run game has actually been pretty consistent, despite playing with a subpar offensive line. David Montgomery is a stud, and Khalil Herbert is a fine backup who will also get some run.
The last time we saw Cohen, he didn’t know how to run forward and act with decisiveness. The team has moved on with their specialist too, as they traded a sixth-rounder for Jakeem Grant, who they will hopefully re-sign in the near future.
Cohen’s health is a question mark, and he looks to be out of playing time at this point, so the Bears would do themselves and Cohen a favor by cutting ties.
