3. Lucas Patrick
If an offensive lineman in free agency is a clue what Luke Getsy may do, it is Lucas Patrick. Patrick also could be the classic example of a player getting taken from the Green Bay Packers and added to the Chicago Bears.
Patrick is not a big-name starter either, but this is a player who has had work at all five positions, including center. That goes a long way.
While Patrick did not work directly with Getsy, Luke Getsy was the passing game coordinator. For Patrick to be a five-position player, the passing game coordinator surely had to trust him in each spot as well.
This is another player that is not going to set a big market and draw a big number of suitors. Having familiarity could help bring him in. While it will not flip the scales, this signing can solidify the depth in ways that Ryan Pace never did.
