3 New Orleans Saints cut candidates who could fit Chicago Bears
2. Could David Onyemata fit Chicago Bears?
David Onyemata is one of the more underrated players in the NFL. A former day three pick back in 2016, Onyemata became a staple for the Saints and signed an extension that made him one of the more respected interior linemen in the NFL.
Unfortunately for Onyemata, he missed five games last season with a suspension for PEDs. To be fair, it appears as though whatever he took did not hurt him now that he is clean from it. He came back from his suspension and was just fine, particularly as a run defense player.
The Chicago Bears will have to keep an eye on him when they decide on big names such as Bilal Nichols and Akiem Hicks. The Saints could save $8.5M to move on from Onyemata, but that may be a similar price range to Hicks and less than what Nichols is getting.
That price tag may be high for the Saints, but the Bears could see a cheaper version of Nichols, who is a bit older, but also has had much more NFL success over a longer span of time.
