1. Does Sterling Shepard fit with Chicago Bears?
Sterling Shepard has had a career that is a bit more promising on paper than it has played out on the NFL field. He had 731 yards in his second NFL season and followed it up with 872 the following year. Unfortunately in the three years since then, he has not been able to get back to beating those numbers.
A lot of it has to do with the offense falling apart around him, but more of it had to do with his injury status. Last season was the worst one yet because he suffered a torn Achilles.
Considering the New York Giants can save over $8M by moving on from Shepard, it is essentially a no-brainer. No one is saying to give him that type of money, but it would make sense to offer him a low-end one-year deal to see if he can prove himself once again.
In Chicago, it could be a nice fit. The team would love to see him in the slot and see him become a chain mover for Justin Fields as he progresses in the NFL. Of course, again, this is more on paper than anything else at this point.
Still, at the very least we have seen names such as Cam Akers and Eric Fisher return from the Achilles injury far sooner than expected, so if they can get a healthy Shepard on a contact that is about 1/8 of he was just making, it could be enticing.
