4. Could Chicago Bears sign Jordan Phillips?
When Jordan Phillips gets on the field, he is usually a terror in the middle. The issue has been him getting on the field. Since the Arizona Cardinals signed him in 2020 he has only been active for 18 of 33 games that the team has played.
That is not what you want to see, especially when you are paying him a substantial salary. The Cardinals could save $10M to move on from Phillips. Obviously, he is not worth the headache at that price, but if the injuries push down his salary to where he is a bargain, a team like the Chicago Bears would have to keep an eye on him.
The Bears are set to lose Akiem Hicks and have a big decision to make on Bilal Nichols. Considering this is a new front office, they may be keen on letting Nichols go elsewhere, and saving money.
For Phillips, they would be getting someone who has been more impressive when he is healthy. The issues are the injuries, but that, combined with his age would ensure that he will not get money anywhere near Nichols. It is more risk for more reward, but the monetary difference certainly makes it interesting.
