Talk about starting with a bang; Poles gets the fans’ attention immediately by executing the following trade with the New Orleans Saints.

The Bears send their second-rounder (No. 39) to the Saints in exchange for the Saints’ second-round pick (No. 50) and their third-rounder (No. 98). For those wondering, this trade went through via the Pro Football Focus mock draft simulator. After that, Poles again trades back using the pick he received from New Orleans and is able to truly stack some valuable picks.

After finally deciding to make his first selection at pick No. 75, Poles wastes no time as the very best player on the board is, without a doubt, Oklahoma linebacker Brian Asamoah.

This is a true Eberflus type of pick. Asamoah is a 6-foot linebacker, weighing roughly 220 pounds, and offers this Bears defense one heck of an athlete. Asamoah is a fast, downhill type of linebacker who is always racing to the football — a trait Eberflus wants to instill in every one of his current players on defense.

This Bears defense has to get back to going after the football, and Asamoah does exactly that — and with reckless abandonment.

Asamoah can drop back in coverage if need be, because of his athleticism. But, he excels in going after the ball carrier. Whoever has the football, that’s where Asamoah wants to be. In 12 games last year, Asamoah tallied 80 tackles, with 56 of them being solo.

This is a player who gives 100 percent on every single snap. He’s the definition of an Eberflus guy, and the Bears would be delighted to snag him in the third.
