Chicago Bears Target No 3. Zion Johnson, OG – Boston College

Many fans have pointed out that the biggest weakness on the Bears’ line last year was center, and I would absolutely agree. But the Bears already have two players on the offensive line that have center experience in the NFL in Cody Whitehair and James Daniels (assuming the Bears resign him). Considering this isn’t a very good center class after Tyler Linderbaum, the Bears may be better suited to draft a guard and move Whitehair or Daniels to center to kick Sam Mustipher out of the rotation.

This is why the Bears could go after a prospect like Zion Johnson. Johnson was a late bloomer and didn’t break out until his redshirt senior season, but this college experience makes Johnson one of the most pro-ready players at his position. He is an all-around complete guard and doesn’t have any glaring weaknesses in his game. Johnson also has experience playing left tackle, and even if he doesn’t project as a tackle in the NFL, the versatility is still a plus.

Johnson is one of the safest and pro-ready linemen in this class. He doesn’t have physical traits that are super exciting, but getting a player of his caliber in the second round would be a luxury for Chicago.
