Chicago Bears draft prospects who dominated Combine: CB Tariq Woolen

The Bears also have to focus on cornerback this offseason, and with just Jaylon Johnson and Thomas Graham Jr. as the only two guys in the group who could provide a future here, they have a lot of work to do filling out their depth.

The Bears need to find a potential starter and may have to search a bit deeper to do so. One of the more intriguing mid-round guys showed up at the Combine and, while he didn’t do all the drills, did enough to improve his stock. UTSA cornerback Tariq Woolen is his name, and the Bears should absolutely be paying attention to him if they either trade back and acquire a fourth-round pick or if he’s available in the fifth for some reason.

Woolen brings size to the table at 6-foot-4, but he also brings the speed and athleticism that Eberflus and defensive coordinator Alan Williams covet.

Woolen ran his 40-yard dash in a blistering 4.26 seconds which immediately made headlines. He combined his 40 time with a soaring 42-inch vertical.

Now that’s the kind of athleticism and speed the Bears want at cornerback. If Woolen is there, even in the late third round, the Bears ought to think about planning ahead for how they can snag him.
