Chicago Bears draft prospects who dominated Combine: OL Zion Johnson

If the Bears opt to go offensive line in the second round, with pick no. 39. Then Boston College interior lineman Zion Johnson is worth the capital. He was already one of the guys being mocked to the Bears over the past few weeks, and with his Combine performance, he now looks even better.

[Editor’s Note: He may have even pushed himself out of the Bears’ reach and into the first round]

At 6-foot-3 and 312 pounds, Johnson certainly packs the mass for an offensive lineman. But, he isn’t too big to where it limits him too much athletically. He ran his 40-yard dash in a respectable 5.18 seconds, but where he truly stood out was on the bench press, where he racked up 32 reps.

Johnson also tallied a 32-inch vertical, showing off some impressive leg strength. He has the perfect combination of strength and quickness the Bears should be looking for upfront, and he would fit extremely well in a run-heavy scheme like the Bears will be using.

As a former Boston College Eagle himself, Ryan Poles has likely already keyed in on Johnson as a target for Chicago. If he’s drafted to the Bears, Johnson comes in as an immediate starter, filling a big need.
