We just saw plenty of speed at the wide receiver position at the 2022 NFL Combine last week. Officially, eight prospects ran faster than 4.4, while one of those eight ran under 4.3 with a time of 4.28. I am sure that the Chicago Bears were paying close attention to this group of prospects as the team needs to add multiple new faces at the position this offseason. As of now, the only player who deserves a starting nod at receiver is Darnell Mooney.

Ryan Poles has plenty of holes to fill. I did not think it needed to be said, but it appears I will need to say it in every article that is specific to only one position. Discussing one position over all of the others does not mean that the Chicago Bears should not address those other positions. If I bring up a wide receiver the Bears need to draft or sign, it doesn’t mean that the team needs to ignore the offensive line.

The Chicago Bears are possibly going wide receiver in the second round

The Chicago Bears have plenty of needs at multiple positions, but wide receiver and offensive line are arguably the top two. Talking about them does not mean that Ryan Poles can just ignore cornerback, inside linebacker, strong safety, and the need for a defensive tackle to play the 3-technique. In fact, if they cut Eddie Goldman as I expect they will, then I’d think a new nose tackle is also at play.

Now that you understand that by discussing the wide receiver position, I am not ignoring every other position of need. That said, the Chicago Bears are in need of a wide receiver and they met with two of them while at the Combine.
