The Chicago Bears keep their second-round pick in this Amari Cooper trade

Finally, the trade package I would start my negotiations with if I were Ryan Poles would be offering the Chicago Bears third-round pick (71) this year and their future third-round pick next year. This allows the Bears to keep their second-rounder (39). With how deep the draft is at wide receiver and even at cornerback, this allows Ryan Poles the opportunity to trade back from 39 to a later pick in the second and hopefully still regain a 2022 draft pick.

Amari Cooper as a third-round pick in this scenario would be fantastic. I’m not sure it would be enough to entice Jerry Jones, but it all depends on what other teams are involved in trade negotiations. The Chicago Bears can use Amari Cooper on the outside and pair him with Darnell Mooney. These two would make a fantastic duo in my opinion and even allows the team the capability to either draft a third wide receiver in the second or fifth, or after restructuring Cooper’s contract, sign a mid-priced free agent.

Imagine a wide receiver room of Amari Cooper, Darnell Mooney and either a draft prospect like Jahan Dotson, George Pickens or Christian Watson. If they elect to go the free agency route, it could be a guy like Auden Tate, Russell Gage or maybe, if the numbers work, a free agent like Christian Kirk.

Now, remember, none of this means that the Chicago Bears cannot or should not improve the offensive line. I know many reading this will just say, sign offensive linemen and guess what, that’s not how this works. The team needs to improve in multiple areas and this would lock up the wide receiver spot.
