3 aggressive trade packages to bring DK Metcalf to the Chicago Bears
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears could trade a player and two picks for DK Metcalf
Let’s say the Seahawks were close to accepting the previous deal but wanted a player involved as well. They did just receive Shelby Harris from the Broncos, but adding even another strong lineman to their defense would be a positive for this roster.
The Bears could end up parting ways with nose tackle Eddie Goldman in order to save roughly $6 million against their cap in 2022. They also have second-year pro, Khyiris Tonga waiting in the wing to take over Goldman’s position. Tonga played excellent last year as a rookie and surprised us as a seventh-round pick.
In this deal, the Bears would again send this year’s second-rounder and next year’s third-rounder. But, in addition, they would include Goldman.
This would actually be a double win for the Bears, as they’d clear up some cap space by letting go of Goldman. Not only do they get a dominant wide receiver who could be around for a very long time, but they get some additional cap flexibility.
That extra cap space could be spent on a starting offensive lineman, which would solidify one of the team’s biggest needs aside from wide receiver. It could also be used on a cornerback like Charvarius Ward, whom many fans would love to see in Chicago as he has a connection to Poles from Kansas City.
