2. Could the Chicago Bears sign Brian Allen?

Projected Contract Per PFF: $8M per year

Brian Allen arguably si the highest upside bet and has the chance to be the most value for a long-term starting option. The reason he sits at number two is that he has just as many questions to compound the upside.

The two things that Allen has going for him are his age, and his success last season in a zone-blocking scheme. He is also just 26 years old, while most of the top centers on the market are 30 years of age or older.

The fit makes plenty of sense considering the running scheme that the Rams had is similar in principle to what Chris Morgan wants to do.

The question comes to his experience. Of course, he has less experience than someone such as Jensen, but he has just a season and a half of starting snaps. He was named the starter in 2019, but about halfway through the season suffered an ACL injury.

The impact of COVID meant that his rehabilitation was delayed because he could not see his regular training staff. His 2020 season never took off as he was so slow to recover.

In the long run, the extra time off allowed us to see Allen at full strength and he looked stronger than ever before. This could make him an intriguing free agent as the cost could meet the upside of what he brings.
