2. Anthony Walker may want to sign with Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears do not have the draft assets to address linebackers, so they have to sign somebody. Matt Eberflus is going to want one of his guys, considering he and Dave Borgonzi have worked together for a while now.

Both Borgonzi and Eberflus were in the room when Anthony Walker was signed and they developed Walker into a strong starter next to Darius Leonard. Walker went to Cleveland and while he had some ups, injuries and other issues cause his tenure to go poorly.

Now, Walker could sign cheaper but could be a great fit in this scheme. Walker is much better off when he is playing robin to the batman of someone such as Leonard. He is sound in his role and never freelances, which allows his partner to be a playmaker.

Someone like Walker being a trusted could allow Smith to turn it loose a bit more and seek turnovers. Walker is not from the area but went to Northwestern, so it could be a nice return to where the process started for Walker.

The return to Illinois, the return to the linebacker coach and defensive coordinator who helped spring him, and the perfect fit next to Smith make this fit make all too much sense.
