Chicago Bears Pick 71: Jeremy Ruckert, TE – Ohio State University

With all of the people begging for a Chris Olave, or even a Garrett Wilson reunion with Justin Fields, Ruckert seems to be left out most times despite being a great safety outlet for Fields in College.

Ruckert adds great hands, good route running, and good speed at tight end and could be a legit receiving threat at the next level.

The Bears have had a black hole at the tight end position ever since Martellus Bennett was on the team, if you don’t count that stretch where Trey Burton was effective, and have yet to fill that hole.

Cole Kmet is not even close to a solution at tight end and has been nothing better than disappointing in his tenure in Chicago. The Bears need to stop the bleeding and quit waiting for Cole Kmet to develop and add some firepower alongside him if the 23-year-old Notre Dame alum were not to pan out.
