While at the 2022 NFL Combine, Ryan Poles addressed the media. During that interview, we heard him say some interesting things. He talked about how he was disappointed in the offensive line while watching film from 2021. Too often he felt as though the offensive linemen were not concerned by Justin Fields having to pick himself up off the ground.
He also discussed that he wants the team to focus on their weight and he wants to add leaner, faster players to the offensive line. You can hear his exact words and more by watching his interview about evaluating the 2021 roster.
The Chicago Bears are making some drastic moves this offseason
With these comments plus the whole HITS and Loafs philosophy that Matt Eberflus is looking to bring to the team, it is pretty obvious that the new regime is going to have a big focus on accountability. When we look back at the Matt Nagy regime, it seems to me that he was a little too lenient on players at times. We saw Anthony Miller continuously running his mouth despite constantly making mental mistakes. We saw Javon Wims in a similar way.
Club Dub was fun while the team was winning, but as soon as they started losing, everything hit the fan. We as fans were not keen on the idea of the team continuously celebrating wins as they were struggling to remain above .500. This is easier to say now due to hindsight, but winning cures everything, while losing exposes all the baggage. Right now, the Chicago Bears are cleaning out the baggage.
