The Chicago Bears could still sign left tackle, Terron Armstead
Personally, I am on the outside looking in on this free agent option. Rumors are that Armstead is waiting to sign because he wants to see if the Saints can land Deshaun Watson in a trade. Many Chicago Bears fans would love to see Armstead brought into Chicago, and although I would not hate that idea, I’m also not advocating loudly for it.
Armstead might be the most talented option left in free agency, but I just cannot stand on a hill and shout to give a huge contract to a free agent who is turning 31 years old soon and has never played a full season. Throughout his career, he has only played in 66.9% of his potential games (97 of 145). This is an average of 10 games per year.
Spotrac has the potential market value of Armstead at $23.9 million per year on a four-year deal worth just under $100 million. That is a risky move, but if Ryan Poles believes that Armstead is the answer — even if he only plays two-thirds of a season — then I will support that decision with slight skepticism. This move would definitely be a splash move though.
