2. Byron Pringle sets the tone blocking

This is not what is going to get fans excited, but it is what is going to get the coaches and front office members talking about bringing in Byron Pringle. One of the best skills that Pringle can bring to the table is his ability to block.

He is not just a willing blocker, he is proficient at it. Per Pro Football Focus, of all wide receivers with at least 100 blocking snaps Pringle graded out the best in the NFL. In 2020, Pringle ranked 8th, but it still speaks to what he brings to the table

As noted, 55% of his snaps are in the slot, but 63% of his routes are from there. That means that often when Pringle is lined up outside, it is with the purpose to block.

Pringle is not going to explode and become an All-Pro wide receiver for the Chicago Bears. He is much more likely to become depth.

Still, when you have a depth wide receiver like Pringle the biggest thing they can do to keep earning playing time is the little things. The quick passes, the chain movers, and the blocking on first downs that help running backs get outside. These are the reasons why Byron Pringle was signed.
