A 2022 Chicago Bears mock draft with trades to assist free agency
By Ryan Heckman
In one last trade, Poles moves up and snags a fourth-round pick from the Washington Commanders. The Bears will send Washington their no. 148 and no. 150 selections in exchange for pick no. 113.
With that pick, the Bears select an extremely versatile defender in Nebraska’s JoJo Domann.
Domann is one of those guys people have a very hard time projecting at the next level, but they know he’s a playmaker nonetheless. Domann is listed as a defensive back, but he stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 228 pounds. Domann likely projects best as a linebacker who is excellent in coverage — something the Bears will need running a 4-3 scheme.
This is an Eberflus player if there ever was one in the 2022 class. Domann is as tough as they come, able to shed blockers quickly and wrap up ball carriers. He has no problem smashing through blockers, but also has the ability to drop back into coverage and excel.
He’s truly a defensive unicorn and could end up proving to be a huge value in this draft. Over his career with the Huskers, Domann compiled 26.5 tackles for loss, 15 passes defensed, 5.5 sacks, three interceptions, and nine forced fumbles.
