In the fifth round, the Bears go with yet another Nebraska product. This time, it’s interior offensive lineman Cam Jurgens. The Bears would feel pretty fortunate to get Jurgens here, as he had a pretty strong showing at the Combine.

Jurgens would come to Chicago as a guy who can play both guard and center. With Lucas Patrick being the likely starting center, Jurgens may step into a starting role at guard depending on how the rest of free agency shakes out. But, at the very least, Jurgens would be groomed into a future starter in Chicago.

At 6-foot-3 and 303 pounds, Jurgens is another athletic lineman for the Bears to deploy. He ran a 4.92 in his 40-yard dash, and for a guy his size, that’s a good time.

Jurgens was a three-year starter at Nebraska who consistently made calls upfront for the Huskers. He’s a smart player with great instincts and is very athletic, especially laterally.

Possessing a strong, solid core, Jurgens would have to work a little bit harder when it came to getting to the second level. But, there’s also the belief that he could get there considering his athleticism.
