We are a little over one week removed from the start of free agency. There are a few bigger names left on the market but it appears that one of those names is likely headed to the Miami Dolphins. Terron Armstead is easily the top left tackle on the market and he met with the Dolphins yesterday. In fact, by the time you read this, he may have already signed with them.

If we look at the free agents that Ryan Poles has signed this offseason, no one should be surprised. As much as I am frustrated by the fact that they didn’t sign guys like JuJu Smith-Schuster or La’el Collins. I am on record of also being frustrated by the fact that Ryan Poles wasn’t willing to send a fifth-round draft pick for Amari Cooper.

Ryan Poles still has plenty of work to do if he wants to fix the Chicago Bears roster

The thing is though, Ryan Poles was very direct about his approach to the offseason and we as fans, although frustrating at times, should at least let the rest of the offseason play out before we grab our pitchforks. There are months left before the roster is set and many things can change between now and then.

As of now, Ryan Poles has signed the following players:

  • Lucas Patrick, OC
  • Darrynton Evans, RB
  • Khari Blasingame, FB
  • Byron Pringle, WR
  • Equanimeous St. Brown, WR
  • Justin Jones, DT
  • Al-Quadin Muhammad, DE
  • Nicholas Morrow, LB
  • DeAndre Houston-Carson, DB
  • Patrick Scales, LS

Let’s not look at the roster as a whole just yet. Remember, we have time before we can start to panic. That said, we are in the thick of the second wave of free agency — the wave that Ryan Poles said he’d be focusing on. The question now is, who else will he be able to add to the offensive line to give Justin Fields the protection he deserves?
