The current starting offensive line for the Chicago Bears needs help

Alright, before we panic, let’s preface this with the fact that it’s still relatively early in the offseason and the Chicago Bears can still make moves. There are still a decent amount of free agents available — although the talent quality might be less than ideal. Plus, the 2022 NFL draft is at the end of April.

As we look at the roster now though, this is what Ryan Poles, Matt Eberflus and Luke Getsy have to work with in 2022:

"Left Tackle – Teven Jenkins Left Guard – Cody Whitehair Center – Lucas Patrick Right Guard – Dieter Eiselen Right Tackle – Larry Borom"

It’s highly doubtful, in fact more like impossible, that after everything Ryan Poles has said negatively about what he saw from the Bears offensive line last season that the above is the final starting unit in 2022. I would really like to see Eric Fisher added as a stopgap left tackle. Duane Brown could be another option if you don’t mind signing a 37-year-old — the Jason Peters signing did work out last year and he was 39.

I’m going to continue to hold my full judgment until the offseason is complete, but as of now, I’m not feeling great about the 2022 roster. I know they were never going to compete this year, but with Justin Fields going into his second year, he needs protection and guys to throw to. I think it is fair to at least question the plan at this point, even if we are not being overly critical or throwing logic completely out the window. This offensive line still needs plenty of work.
