The Chicago Bears have been quieter than some fans would have expected in free agency. Still, while they were not the big spenders, this was a team with so many roles, and only so much money to spend. They were going to have to be bargain hunting.

They also are still going to have to add a group of names before and after the draft to fill a 90-man roster by training camp. One of the biggest areas of need is the offensive line. Fortunately for them, there are still plenty of names available.

5. Does Will Hernandez make sense with Chicago Bears?

Will Hernandez checks a lot of the boxes that the Chicago Bears would be looking for from their offensive lineman in free agency. The first big check is that he will be entering his second contract, and is just 26 years old.

We have already seen that Ryan Poles is taking the approach of letting younger players take on bigger roles in free agency, rather than betting on aging names to stay healthy. Hernandez fits that perfectly.

He was a former top 50 pick who did not fall far out of the first round. Still, things did not go well in New York. Hernandez had to sift through many head coaches, offensive line coaches, and players around him.

Chicago may be seeing that other teams are not interested in his preferred price tag. If they can dip in and sign him at a low cost to give him a chance to start it would be an ideal fit for both sides. Hernandez had spent his career at right guard, so he could assume the starter spot immediately.

Will Hernandez is definitely a player to keep an eye on.
