It appears Ryan Bates wants to join the Chicago Bears
By Dakota Wayne
Given all the attention that Ryan Bates has been given from the Chicago Bears – both the team’s leadership and the team’s fan base– there’s reason to believe Bates wants to play for the Bears next year.
And while that decision isn’t up to Bates, considering that he’s a restricted free agent, it’s nice for Chicago Bears fans to see players actually want to play for their team. Not often does it seem like free agents want to team up in Chicago, given their somewhat lackluster recent history.
Does this TikTok comment provide insight into the Chicago Bears signing Ryan Bates?
However, given the very credible source that it is, Ryan Bates dropped some hints in a TikTok comment section that could perk the ears of Bears fans hopeful to gain Ryan Bates this off-season.
Obviously, this TikTok comment doesn’t say, “I, Ryan Bates, am 100% certain that I will be joining the Chicago Bears for their 2022 NFL season.” If it did, there’d be much more speculation that he actually is joining the Bears.
And to be completely honest, the comment itself isn’t very telling of where Bates is headed next, it shows that he cares about being able to provide for his family: something that usually is said when a bigger contract is signed for.
Not that Bates’ one-year, $2,433,000 contract is anything short of a salary capable of providing for a family, but the more that dollar amount increases, the more he’ll be able to provide.
So, while this is major speculation, maybe Bates is more in the know than the average fan is, and he knows that his bigger payday is coming.
Now, the Chicago Bears shouldn’t break the bank for Ryan Bates, but he’s proven to be a rather decent offensive lineman that can play more than just one position. And considering the Bears’ need for offensive linemen, a move like bringing in Ryan Bates makes a whole lot of sense.
Now, the Chicago Bears– and their eager fans– must wait to see if the Buffalo Bills match the Bears’ offer, or if they let him sign with Chicago.
